Filmorex is an independent publication and product lab. This policy explains, in plain language, what happens to your information when you read our articles, use our free browser tools or send us a message. It applies to this website only.
Tools run locally
Every free tool processes your text and files inside your browser. Nothing you work on is uploaded to our servers.
No ad trackers
We run no advertisements and no third-party tracking or analytics scripts on this website.
Never sold
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. There is no data broker, no ad exchange and no reselling.
You stay in control
Ask us at any time for a copy of what you have sent us, or to have it deleted. We act on every request.
- We only receive information you choose to give us, plus routine server logs kept by our host.
- Our free tools never send your content anywhere - processing happens on your device.
- No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, no third-party analytics.
- Personal data is never sold. Access to it is limited to the site operator.
- You can request access to or deletion of anything you have sent us, at any time.
1. Who we are
Filmorex is an independent publication and product lab covering artificial intelligence, development, automation and indie product building. "We", "us" and "our" in this document refer to the operator of this website. For any privacy question, the fastest way to reach us is the contact form.
2. Information we collect
We collect as little as possible. There are only three sources of information on this site:
- Information you actively give us - whatever you type into the contact form (your name, email address and message).
- Information created by your visit - standard web server logs generated automatically when any website is requested.
- Information stored on your own device - small pieces of local storage that our pages write in your browser for convenience features (see section 6).
We do not ask you to create an account as a reader, and we do not collect payment information on this website.
3. The contact form
When you send a message through the contact form we receive and store the fields you fill in: name, email address and message body. The form includes a simple honeypot field to filter out automated spam submissions.
Why we keep it: solely to read your message and reply to you, and to keep a record in case of a follow-up.
How long: messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry. You can ask us to delete your message at any time and we will remove it from our database.
We never use your email address for marketing, newsletters or any form of bulk sending unless you explicitly ask us to.
4. Server logs
Like every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical details with each request, typically including your IP address, the pages requested, the time of the request, the referring page and your browser or user-agent string.
These logs exist for security and reliability: they let us diagnose errors, detect abusive traffic and keep the site running. They are stored on our hosting infrastructure and are not combined with other datasets, sold or shared for advertising. Log retention is controlled by our host and is generally short-lived.
5. Cookies
As a visitor you receive no advertising, marketing or cross-site tracking cookies from this site.
The only cookies that can appear are:
- Session cookie (admin only) - a single session cookie is set when the site administrator signs in to the admin panel. It is required for the login to work, expires when the session ends and is never used for tracking.
- No preference cookie - the earlier theme-preference cookie has been removed along with the theme switcher; the site now uses a single fixed design.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the public site will continue to work normally.
6. Local storage on your device
Some convenience features remember data in your browser using local storage. This data never leaves your device - we cannot see it, collect it or read it. Currently stored locally:
- Series reading progress - which parts of a post series you have read, so the series page can show a progress bar. Stored under keys beginning with
fx-series-. - Email reply history - sample drafts you create with the email-reply tool, so you can revisit them in the same browser. Stored under the key
fx-email-history.
Clearing your browser data (or using private browsing) removes all of it instantly, and nothing breaks - the features simply start fresh.
7. Our free browser tools
All tools in the tools section - JSON formatting, case conversion, QR code generation, email replies, social card previews and background removal - run entirely in your browser using JavaScript on your own device.
What this means in practice: the text, files or images you load into a tool are processed locally and are never transmitted to our servers. We have no technical way to see what you process with them. Tools work without an account and without any server-side processing step.
If a future tool ever needs a server component, this policy will be updated before that tool ships, and the tool page will say so clearly.
8. Analytics and advertising
This website does not currently run any third-party analytics, advertising networks, fingerprinting scripts or social media widgets that track you across the web. Page views counted in our own interface come from our own server logs and are shown only as aggregate numbers on articles - they are not linked to individual visitors.
If we ever add a privacy-respecting analytics tool, we will update this page and call out the change here before it goes live.
9. Who can see your information
Access is limited to the operator of this site and, for purely technical matters, our hosting provider who processes server logs on our behalf. Beyond that:
- We do not sell, rent or trade personal data.
- We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers or marketing platforms - we have none.
- We may disclose information only if we are legally required to do so, or to protect the rights, safety and property of the site, its users or the public.
10. How long we keep things
- Contact messages - kept until your enquiry is resolved, then deleted on request or when clearly no longer needed.
- Server logs - retained per our host default policy, typically between 7 and 30 days, and used only for security and debugging.
- Local storage - stays on your device only, until you clear it.
- Published content - articles, tools and product pages are public by nature and are kept as long as the site exists.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data - for example the right to access it, correct it, delete it, or object to how it is used. We support all of these rights in spirit, wherever you are.
To exercise any of them, simply send us a message with the subject "Privacy request". We will confirm what data we hold about you (if any) and act on deletion or correction requests promptly, and in any case within one month.
12. Children
This site is written for a general, professional audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or the higher minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data through the contact form, contact us and we will delete it.
13. External links
Our articles and product pages sometimes link to other websites, or to example products hosted on external domains. Once you follow such a link you are on that site, and its own privacy policy applies - not ours. We have no control over what third parties collect, so we recommend checking their policies before providing any information.
14. Changes to this policy
We review this policy whenever the way the site handles data changes. Every update is reflected in the "Last updated" date shown at the top of this page. For material changes - for example if we introduce analytics or a server-side feature for a tool - we will call the change out prominently on this page before or when it takes effect.
We will never quietly expand this policy to give ourselves rights we did not have before without telling you.
15. How to reach us
Questions, concerns or requests about anything on this page are welcome. Use the contact form and mention "Privacy" in your message - we read and reply to every genuine enquiry.
